What are the characteristics of UV ink printing

  • December 18,2019.

UV is the abbreviation of "Ultraviolet Rays" in English, which translates to "ultraviolet light" in Chinese. The so-called UV ink refers to the ink that undergoes cross-linking polymerization reaction under ultraviolet radiation and can be cured into a film instantly. UV inks can be used for flexo, offset, gravure, and screen printing. Among them, offset printing, flexo, and screen printing are relatively widely used. Printing with UV inks has the following characteristics:

Health and Environmental Protection. UV inks do not use solvents, and there is almost no emission of pollutants during printing and drying, and no need for dusting. Reduces dust pollution in the workshop, improves the printing environment, minimizes physical damage to operators, and compares with traditional solvent-based oil-based inks. It can be called a healthy and environmentally friendly ink, especially suitable for food hygiene packaging and environmentally friendly printing products.

Good printing performance and stable quality. UV ink particles are fine, high density, and stable physical properties. Although the amount of ink used during printing is small, the dots are still fine, the ink color is mellow, uniform, bright, and high gloss. The UV ink prints are resistant to friction, water and heat. All aspects are higher than the products printed by ordinary inks.

Printing ink drying time is short and energy consumption is low. UV ink drying speed is calculated in seconds or even a few tenths of a second. It does not need to go through the powder spraying process of ordinary offset printing inks. After printing, it can be stacked and stacked immediately, or it can be processed immediately after printing. The printed products are clean and tidy, which can save time and cost and improve production efficiency.

The printed load map is wider. Due to the good adhesion of UV inks, the print carrier pattern is wider. Many non-absorptive materials can be printed with UV inks, and the effect is more ideal. For example, printing materials with aluminum foil layers on the surface of gold and silver cardboard, or plastic non-absorptive printing materials, UV inks perform significantly better than ordinary inks.
